Launch your engineering career at Heathrow Airport

Engineering Professional Development Programme

Heathrow is the one of the world’s major hub airports – and engineering is its lifeblood. Providing the facilities and services to fly around 75 million passengers a year requires £14bn of engineering assets, including rail, roads, tunnels, bridges and a private water system, not to mention the UK’s largest free-standing structure at Terminal 5. And all of this infrastructure is maintained and developed by our engineering teams.

Join us, on this two-year professional development programme, and you will gain first-hand experience of our engineering activities, working in the teams that deliver cutting-edge development, construction and maintenance projects across our airport.

Progressing along a comprehensive and defined training route, while working alongside and learning from experienced engineers, you will build up the knowledge, experience and leadership skills necessary to succeed as a future engineering leader at Heathrow. Once you have completed the programme, our expectation is that you will go on to achieve Chartered Engineer status with us and take a fast-track route into a managerial role.

We are looking for people who have a genuine passion for engineering along with at least a 2:1 BEng degree (or equivalent) in an electrical, civil or mechanical discipline. Are you an excellent all-round communicator? Can you demonstrate the desire to learn about different areas of our business throughout the two-year programme and beyond? Are you looking to develop not just your technical engineering skills but also your ability to lead and inspire people, and to work strategically at the highest levels?

Then our Engineering Professional Development Programme could be just what you’re looking for.
