Role:Clinical Lead Nurse Manager
Location: Cheshire

Annual salary: £40,000-£52,000 (depending on experience)
Hours per week: 37.5


Lead Nurse role involves:

• Ensuring that the team core values and quality of care are at the forefront of patient centred care
• Being a skilled communicator at all levels and working cohesively, professionally and effectively with staff, external agencies, visitors, carers and patients.
• Taking an active lead role in areas of Region’s Clinical Governance Structures, inspections and commissioner/funder/network meetings
• Taking an active part in the and chair/lead subgroups in accordance with service need
• Supporting Ward Managers with managing the ward budget, exercising effective cost control in line with budget and service requirements, taking into account staff allocation, daily numbers on the ward and additional use of premium rate staff to ensure the budget is effectively managed
• Providing a nursing clinical leadership as part of the MDT for the Farndon Unit, overseeing the management of wards and other clinical areas
• Directly managing the Ward Managers
• Working within the Code of Conduct to ensure good standards of infection control, privacy and dignity, cleanliness and health and safety
• Engaging with Ward Managers, nursing staff and other stakeholders to identify areas for training and professional development
• Being involved in all aspects of recruitment of nursing staff within the unit in partnership with the Hospital Director as appropriate
• Managing, with Ward Managers mandatory training for nursing staff
• Ensuring that action plans are implemented, monitored and evaluated for all parts of the Farndon Unit, maintaining compliance with identified standard requirements and effectively problem solving when necessary
• Working cohesively as part of the local management team at the Farndon Unit attending and contributing to meetings on a regular basis
• Supervising and teaching qualified and unqualified staff including students and actively monitoring, supporting and directing others to do the same, promoting a learning and reflective culture
• Taking part in the out of hours on call system
• Being responsible for ensuring robust data quality systems are in place to capture local activity
• Assisting in the development of services in line with local identified need and strategic development including the marketing of components of the service
• Ensuring a continued assessment of service needs, service governance and performance against key indicators, inspections and commissioners


To be successful as a Lead Nurse, you’ll need:

Essential
• Registered Nurse Qualification (Mental Health/Learning Disability)
• To be educated to degree level, or professional equivalent
• At least 5 years post qualification experience
• Management and leadership experience
• Knowledge of legislation related to health & safety, nursing, occupational therapy, social workers and other professions
• Ability to provide appropriate advice and guidance on service issues related to clinical risk management
• Proven ability to manage and develop staff in a range of disciplines
• Excellent communication skills: verbal and written at various levels
• Sound organizational skills
• Proactive approach to standard setting/problem solving
• Ability to demonstrate assertiveness, tact and diplomacy appropriately
• To be enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive and flexible

Desirable
• Educated to higher degree level
• Therapeutic Qualification
• Recent teaching qualification or equivalent experience
