CLINICAL FELLOW IN OPHTHALMOLOGY
£37176 - £69325

The successful candidate for this appointment will join an expanding department of Ophthalmology with 12 ophthalmic consultants, covering a wide range of specialist interests.

Clinical duties

The candidate will work alongside a team of other trainees, sharing clinical duties and taking part in the on-call rota.
In addition the candidate will be expected to participate in regular departmental and regional teaching, and take part in clinical audit.

All trainees attend the Regional training sessions held at St James' Hospital, Leeds in term time (Tuesday afternoons) by video conferencing.

The Ophthalmic department has active local research studies and also participates as a research site in 6 portfolio national clinical trials relating to retinal disease.

Participation in audit/appraisal and CME is mandatory under clinical governance/GMC
guidance.

Trainees may be asked to visit patients on any of the Trust's sites and across the seven day period where necessary.

Secretarial support and IT facilities will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS

Full GMC registration
(Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice)
Eligibility to work in the UK.

Membership in Ophthalmology part III or equivalent


CLINICAL
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Hospital service in Ophthalmology at the SHO grade or higher grade since first obtaining full registration.



Evidence of own operative experience incl evidence of intra-vitreal injection
KNOWLEDGE AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Experience of teaching and supervising SPRs and SHOs


MANAGEMENT AND ADMINSTRATION SKILLS

Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams

Experience of clinical risk management


AUDIT SKILLSEvidence of audit experience
