It’s an exciting time to join us: KMPT has been rated Outstanding for Caring and Good overall in our most recent CQC inspection in January 2017!+ London Fringe Allowance+ Relocation Package (if applicable)Would you like to be part of a forward thinking progressive service that is embracing the therapeutic day? Are you someone who has a passion for working with adults with acute mental illness and who wants to use your core skills as an Occupational Therapist? We are taking a new and innovative approach to increasing the access to therapy services for our adult acute services. In response to our service users’ needs and the demand for access to therapy across the 7 day period we have increased our Occupational Therapy posts to be able to support this new way of working. As Occupational Therapists we are positioned to shape the culture of inpatient settings to promote a therapeutic day that co-exists to enhance therapeutic interventions and recovery focused ethos on the units. This post will sit within the MDT team and will have support and access to a much wider OT team and professional network within the acute services. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist, who has an interest in providing care to adults in the acute setting and who is looking to support this innovative approach to the therapeutic engagement of service users. You will be responsible for providing OT assessments and interventions both individual and in groups, and will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic and creative environment within a multidisciplinary team which will provide interventions across the extended day, everyday. You will work closely with the band 7 & 6 Occupational Therapists, support workers and nursing team to provide a therapeutic programme that supports the use of activity and recovery. You will also support the ward activity and undertake tasks that support the nursing roles and that maximises service user engagement.“In 2016, we introduced an initiative to improve our expertise with inpatient wards and provide a true patient centred approach. To find out more, please view the attached document and our video about the therapeutic approach to care in our inpatient services.”This position would suit an Occupational Therapist who is looking to consolidate skills acquired from experience in mental health and that wishes to progress in this clinical area. You will need to be a dynamic clinician with good interpersonal skills to enable engagement of service users and staff in the therapeutic programme. You will need to be flexible and work a shift pattern that supports the 7 day programme of extended hours up until 8pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends.Occupational Therapists are recognised as essential, core members of the multi-disciplinary team and are in the forefront of developing recovery and therapeutic interventions.
