Infrastructure Engineer - Windows - Hedge Fund - London

I am currently looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a technology team at very unique Hedge Fund in London.

To be successful in this role you will have a wealth of experience with current infrastructure technologies, from the Windows server stack (With particular emphasis on PowerShell), cloud services, virtualization technologies, MSSQL Server administration, to network switches and firewalls. You will bring all of these together with a DevOps mindset, and have the ability to identify business processes where this can be applied.

You will have responsibility for maintaining the complete Windows and MSSQL environment and the associated infrastructure around it, along with standing up new services and products as and when required. To keep things running efficiently your first thought would be to turn to automation, and writing PowerShell scripts (And checking them into source control) is as natural to you as provisioning a new user mailbox within Exchange (Via PowerShell of course).

This role would really suit a solid all-rounder, with plenty of Infrastructure experience, who’s cut their teeth from the bottom up and relishes the idea of getting stuck into the technology on a daily basis, with a natural propensity to script.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop our server and desktop estate through automation

• Create, implement and maintain global standards across the environment

• Participate in idea creation on new technologies and improvements to existing infrastructure.

Skills Required:

• Solid scripting experience, ideally PowerShell

• Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills

• Server deployment and management

• Windows 10/2012/2016 operating systems and services

• Interaction with SQL and NoSQL, particularly MSSQL Databases both administration and T-SQL

• Performance monitoring and tuning

• Virtualisation and Cloud technologies

• MS Exchange

This is a unique opportunity that has been described to me as a role that incorporates everything that an IT Developer isn't. If you are interested in discussing this further then please get in touch.
