Job Purpose:

Analyse routine samples, document the procedures and maintain equipment and environment in accordance with GLP for analytical studies. Process and interpret data to ensure acceptance criteria have been met and anomalous results are identified. Perform basic method development and method validation.

This job contributes to organizational success by:

- Achieving robust financials - taking ownership for and delivery of revenue generating tasks to ensure right first time. Minimising costs by eliminating waste (consumables & rework).
- Delivering high quality and on time service to maintain customer satisfaction - understanding the importance of your responsibilities and how these fit within the bigger picture.
- Continuous improvement - development of own skills, knowledge and understanding for personal improvement whilst identifying team and department process improvement to enhance efficiency and quality.

Job Requirements:


- Analyse samples and process data for assigned studies.
- Perform method validation.
- Perform basic method development.
- Interpret data to ensure acceptance criteria are achieved and anomalous results are identified.
- Produce data summaries.
- Perform QC checking of analytical data.
- Diversify knowledge of analytical instrumentation with guidance from senior personnel.
- Increase theoretical knowledge of analytical techniques by using CHROMacademy.
- Proactively manage consumable stock levels.
- Clean and maintain allocated work areas and equipment in line with departmental procedures.
- Accept responsibility for the condition and maintenance of allocated equipment.
- Perform departmental duties as required.

GLP compliance

- Accept responsibility for own compliance.
- Complete documentation in accordance with Company procedures.

- Ensure equipment, chemicals and reagents are clearly labelled.

- Follow SOPs relevant to the work area.
- Review and maintain electronic training record and personal portfolio.
- Understand UK and international GLP regulations and their application to the work area.

- Maintain awareness of the nature, type and frequency of regulatory inspections.

Health and Safety

- Understand COSHH and risk assessment for activities performed.
- Ensure precautions for the safety of self and others are employed.
- Comply with all safety directives and department safety procedures.

- Ensure safe working practices in accordance with HASAWA and COSHH.


- Ensure that correct procedures are followed for holiday, sickness and absence.

- Prepare a critical self-assessment and undergo formal appraisals at appropriate intervals.

- Set a good example with respect to Company Policy.
