Software Support Engineer, Software Trainer, Customer Product Support

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Support Engineer to join our new client, a successful software company based in Oxford, Oxfordshire. As the new Software Customer Support Engineer you will be joining a growing company that develops and sells specialist software based on their complex web-based database platform. The Software Customer Support Engineer / Trainer will play a vital role as the link between the development team and the customer, which include large public sector organisations.

As the new Software Support Engineer, you will makeup part of a busy technical team in a varied role; we need someone to offer customer support to existing customers, configure our software to specific customer requirements (1st and 2nd line support) and help with end- user documentation. The Software Support Engineer role also involves training and assisting the Product Trainer with setting up the materials and database for product training sessions.

As the new Software Support Engineer / Trainer, you will have the opportunity to develop into a Software Trainer / Product Training Consultant or move into an Application or Technical Support role! Whichever path you take, you will fully supported with training and expert guidance in a dynamic, friendly and rewarding working environment.

Essential Technical Criteria for the Software Support Engineer / Trainer role includes:

  • Experience with Microsoft Access
  • Business Objects or SQL Reporting Services
  • Microsoft Word Mail-merge skills
  • Writing queries in SQL for Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge of finance management systems

Person Specifications for the Software Support Engineer / Trainer role include:

  • Experience in application support
  • Some experience of training small groups or individuals on software products
  • Technical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good technical documentation skills
  • Ability to pick up new skills and business knowledge
