Support Function Graduate Programme

Your potential. Our opportunity. Deal?

Are you interested in the support functions that underpin a leading European energy trading house? The Support Function Graduate Programme will give you a sound understanding of working in different business areas as well as how the company operates as a whole.

Our two-year Graduate Programme is unusual in that we allow you to choose your own rotations, so you can forge your own career path. You will undertake four six-month placements which could take you across the UK and Europe or even further afield. Whether you are interested in working in IT, Back Office, Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Risk, Regulatory Affairs or Compliance, it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn from industry experts.

Who are we?

RWE Supply & Trading trades in energy and energy-related raw materials, including power, gas, coal, freight, oil, weather derivatives, biomass, emissions certificates and renewable energies.

At our headquarters in Essen, Germany, you’ll find the largest energy trading floor in Europe. We also have trading floors in London and Swindon and operate worldwide. We have around 1,500 employees from 40 countries.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for bright and talented graduates with a proven passion for the energy industry. We want someone with a completed degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in any discipline. We ask that you are fluent in English, and German skills are a bonus. If you have excellent communication skills teamed with strong analytical and numerical skills, you might be just the person we’re looking for.

What do we offer?

We offer a competitive salary package, as well as benefits including:

  • company pension
  • private healthcare
  • financial assistance when moving from your base location
  • flexible benefits, including discounts at shops
  • on-site gym
  • free drinks and fruit
  • free eye care
  • paid subscription to membership of relevant associations, e.g - Young Energy Professionals

There’s a strong emphasis on support and development throughout your programme. You’ll be assigned a previous graduate as a buddy to share their experience and offer you support. You’ll also be able to choose a senior mentor from a pool of many, to advise you on rotations and introduce you to key people. Beyond the extensive graduate development programme, there are plenty of development opportunities on offer including networking events where you’ll meet senior managers and the board.

Where will your career go next?

The only way is up!Around 80% of our graduates are still working within the company long after their programmes have finished. We believe in supporting and nurturing talent, so there’s every chance your career could progress with us. And it’s an exciting time, as we expand into new markets and grow globally. The skills yougain during the Support Function Graduate Programme are skills for life, and will provide you with an excellent grounding for your future career.
