As a Platform / DevOps Engineer, you play an integral role in bridging the gap between Development and Operations, and your skills are some of the most sought after in the technology industry. Platform / DevOps Engineer: About the Role

As a Platform / DevOps Engineer, you play a key role in bridging the gap between Linux Systems Administrators and Software Developers in order to create and maintain development environments. You will manage and support the project’s infrastructure, automation, continuous integration and release, and will improve the software delivery process through development, testing and deployment, in an Agile environment. This role offers the potential for the successful candidate to quickly make their mark and influence the future development of the company’s systems and processes.

Platform / DevOps Engineer: Key Skills and Background

·Experience of cloud based technology such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)

·Expertise in Python or Ruby, proficiency with shell scripting (e.g. BASH)

·In-depth knowledge of platform and application automated deployment technologies (e.g. Cobbler, Puppet, Chef)

·A background in Linux System Administration

·Experience of managing multi-tier enterprise infrastructure environments, within a commercial setting

·Strong configuration management, automation and scripting skills

·A deep understanding of Agile development methodologies (SCRUM, XP, DSDM, RUP etc.)

·Exposure to continuous integration and build tools

·Strong SQL skills on an enterprise database such as Oracle or EnterpriseDB.
