Specialty Doctor Psychiatrist

South West Kent Community Mental Health Team, Highlands House.
10 Programmed Activities (40 hours per week)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Highlands House, Tunbridge Wells as a full time Specialty Doctor.

The post holder will be working with the South West Kent Community Mental Health Team (SWK CMHT) and you will also be working with the Early Intervention Service (EIS) seeing the patients living in South West Kent. South West Kent consists of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. The South West Kent CMHT provides a service to the adult population (18-65 years) in Kent and whose GP practice is in the South West Kent area. The team provides a service to a mixed urban and rural population.

You will provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the South West Kent Community Mental Health Service. You will also provide medical expertise within the Multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team. As part of the Multi-disciplinary Team, you will be available and accessible to provide support and supervision when appropriate.

You will join the SAS doctors Rota providing out of hours cover to the Maidstone section 136 suite where patients are brought who are detained on a section 136 from the West Kent area (South West Kent and Maidstone) although occasionally patients from other areas need to come to Maidstone to be assessed if the 2 other 136 are full.

You will be on call no more frequent than once every 14 nights. For this you will receive an additional 1PA and 2% (of a 10PA salary).

The post holder would be expected to be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures.

Please note that all applicants should have full registration with the General Medical Council; and have completed at least four years full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis); at least two of which will be as a Specialty Trainee in a relevant specialty; or have equivalent experience and competencies. There is an associated on call commitment.

The successful applicant will be required to have enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
