My client, an SME youth charity based in the North West, on the outskirts of Chester, are looking to recruit a Finance Director to support the Chief Executive and be a key part of the Senior Leadership Team. The Director of Finance jobs core purpose is to lead the strategic direction of the finance department, be a positive influence and contribute across the organisations broader operations. To ensure they can achieve their goals and objectives through strong fiscal management and innovative ideas to increase revenue streams and maximise opportunities.

The job is key to the strategic planning process, developing the charities business & operating plan, setting out the strategic outputs and outcomes as agreed with the Board of Trustees. The Finance Director will have overall responsibility for the financial management of the organisation ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance, accurate reporting and excellent financial management. You will ensure robust financial and internal controls are developed and adhered to whilst mitigating risk and ensuring business continuity.

Outside of direct financial responsibility, in line with a classical SME FD, the job will be also heavily involved with providing financial support to the delivery operations and work closely with the Operations Director, developing and maintaining relevant KPIs which can be utilised effectively across the charities operations. You will support the fund-raising activities, helping them to achieve target and ensure that the multiple funding streams are reported on correctly in line with specific contracts, whilst assisting in reviewing potential future fund-raising opportunities or partnerships.

The Director of Finance is a key support role to the Chief Executive, standing in where necessary at meetings and other events, whilst preparing all financial board papers, to ensure the CE and the Board of Trustees meet their statutory obligations.

The job could suit someone taking their first step up into the no1 role in finance or be experience in a similar role. You must be a full qualified accountant, with the passion and drive to assist an enthusiastic senior leadership team carry out the youth charities key mission, to enhance young people’s lives and meet their future potential. You will be happy to roll your sleeves up but act in a strategic manner, be able to both contribute and develop innovative ideas, offering financial acumen for this purpose.
