Engineering Design Manager
Salary up to circa £50k on experience
Location: Bradford

Our client is a leading manufacturer based in the Bradford area who design and manufacture specialist machinery through a large number of sectors. The main focus of their turnover is around their off-the-shelf solutions, but they have a growing bespoke division which they are looking to push forward and expand moving forward. To facilitate this they are looking to recruit an ambitious Engineering Design Manager to lead the design and manufacturing teams.

The role needs someone with a strong product delivery background who has worked with first off designs who is able to communicate and work with clients very closely. You must have management experience within a UK manufacturer of design to order and standard equipment and should be able to motivate and lead the team. This is a key role for the company moving forward and you should be very hands on with the delivery and able to manage Designs, Projects and Timescales. The role is responsible for managing a team of 6 people currently, but there are plans to increase this number shortly.

You should be qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering subject and have a very strong mechanical bias. The role will involve using Solidworks, PLM Systems (Ideally Keytech) and ERP Systems (Ideally INFOR). Some experience of NPD or R&D is preferred and you should have delivered bespoke products from close of sale to completion and handover.

Key Requirements for the Engineering Design Manager are:

  • Strong managerial experience with a UK based Manufacturer of design to order and standard equipment
  • Experience of managing design teams and overseeing production process
  • Knowledge of first off design and fully bespoke machine design
  • High level of experience with Solidworks 3D design
  • Ability to communicate with clients and deliver product to completion
  • NPD or R&D Experience

This is a major role in the future development of the company and developing one of their key focus business areas, as such the role will offer the right candidate an excellent opportunity for development and high-level progression. The role has a basic salary of circa £50k on experience.
