We have a great opportunity for a software developer to join the Sage Payroll Product Engineering team. As part of the Payroll team you will be working on our new global cloud product and services portfolio.

We're growing fast and continuing our ongoing journey to the cloud. As a result, we are expanding our Sage Payroll team. Our work is key to the future success of Sage, is global in nature and therefore requires engagement across regions and our wide product portfolio. We are looking for a number of talented, passionate and ambitious developers to join our growing community in the UK based in the Newcastle head office.

The teams consist of highly skilled software architects, developers, testers and analysts, all operating in a dynamic and customer focused environment following an agile methodology. As well as encouraging innovation and agility, we also look to embrace the latest technologies to provide ever increasing business benefits to our customers.

You'll enjoy working as part of a well-integrated, highly motivated and agile development team. We are looking for candidates who have a positive attitude, are open to change and have an eagerness to gain and share knowledge. You will have excellent communication skills and be a team player who takes pride in their work.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of exciting and key strategic projects as well as becoming an integral part of a key team within the organization, with excellent opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications:

  • Commercial experience developing web/cloud applications (ideally on a Node.js stack).
  • Experience and passion for working in an agile team using Scrum or other Agile framework.
  • Good awareness of the Secure Software Development Life Cycle
  • Strong technical skills in some/all of the following: Typescript, Javascript, React, Redux or Angular.
  • Familiar with RESTful microservices
  • Experience using relational and document data stores.
  • Understand the importance of code quality and application of test driven development tools and techniques.
  • Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud environments
  • Experience with automated build/deployment using container technologies such as Docker
  • Whilst experience of working on a Node stack is highly desirable, it’s not essential as a combination of on the job training and self-study time is provided. We would however expect you to have a proven understanding of robust programming practices, including the use of solid design principles and design patterns.
