Quant Capital is urgently looking for a SQL DBA / Database Administrator to join or well known Fintech50 client who produces software disrupting the wealth management market .I am looking for a database administrator with good all-round infrastructure skills to help manage my clients internal and internal SQL Server based systems.

The Database Administrator will work in the data team. The role will help provide 2nd and 3rd line support of our production, UAT and test data services, working with colleagues to maintain tools, and resolve incidents and requests quickly and effectively, escalating incidents to colleagues when required.

My client operates a number of mission critical data services – including a 3TB RAM/144 core/1.6m IOP 4 node SQL 2014 AlwaysOn cluster, Splunk and Tableau for business and operations data analytics.

The SQL Database Administrator will:

  • Able to configure, understand and monitor always on routes & read slave traffic.

  • Able to understand challenges involved with Always on while Rebuilding Indexes, Update Statistics, Batch Jobs, Logins, Replication, Transaction log sizes.

  • Maintain the SQL infrastructure and database
  • SQL Server 2005/2008/R2 DBA work – help maintain our 200 databases across 30 production and pre-production SQL servers located in remote colocation data centres
  • Monitoring backups, scheduled jobs, disk management
  • Projects to be completed in the next year, scaling out Splunk and Tableau infrastructures and updating to SQL 2016.
  • Maintenance of data servers to maintain best performance.
  • Maintenance of monitoring tools and resolution of issues.
  • Installing / updates of software (e.g. Windows, SQL server, Splunk Tableau).
  • Working with other members of operations to ensure that the data environment is optimally configured.
  • Overseeing application lead changes.
  • Maintenance of clustering.
  • Database design. Responsible for reviewing new database changes and packaging change scripts
  • Performance monitoring/tuning (e.g. indexing, de-normalization, re-designing tables/stored procedures)
  • Software installations
  • The role will work closely with the CTO as well as developers.

    SQL DBA’s Should have:

  • 4 years commercial experience as a SQL DBA
  • Windows 2008r2/2012r2/2016
  • SQL versions 2012r2 or 2016.
  • On-call troubleshooting experience with at least one production SQL Server for a year. You don’t have to be the only DBA or have DBA in your job description, but you should have been one of the people that the company would call if the database services stopped working.
  • Working with developers to improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes
  • Ability to install software, and understand how you would install software at scale (on multiple systems at the same time).
  • This role suits a mid to senior SQL DBA who is looking to gain experience of the fintech and data space. As you can see the business is bleeding edge in terms of adapting to the latest technology but it also encourages and pays for all employees to certify in anything Microsoft.
