I am currently working with a non rivaled Software Vendor based in Oxford who are looking to recruit a talented engineer to join their team as they continue to expand their offering globally.

To maintain our growth we believe in hiring strong technical talent and then supporting that talent to grow with us. I am recruiting for an Application Support Engineer who is a customer focused professional ready to take their support role to the next level. This is a hands-on role that requires a combination of both technical and organisational / inter-personal skills. It is envisaged that this role could lead to a Pre-Sales Engineer position.

The Role
As Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for:
* Installation and integration of the solution in customer environments, ensuring technical issues and blockers are resolved
*Working onsite and remotely to perform installations and upgrades of our software and ensure knowledge transfer to customer's IT team (travel in Europe as required)
* Participating in technical discussions with customer technology teams to plan adoption and ensure best practices are applied during implementation
* Evaluating, testing and implementing new software, hardware, configurations, and architectures as our clients upgrade and expand their infrastructure
*Contributing to the ongoing development of a knowledge-base of "How To" instructions for support and maintenance

Knowledge & Experience:
*An good overall understanding of the major components of web based / java applications and infrastructure and the interoperation of these. These include but are not limited to; Network, Storage, , Operating Systems, Databases, Apache, Tomcat, Web Services

* Proven working experience in enterprise IT support or as a technical /network engineer
* Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and utilities essential

* Familiar with Directory Services (AD/LDAP)
* Knowledge of SQL and any relational database would be an advantage


* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to build positive working relationships with customers and colleagues
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills that you can apply to solve technical problems and deliver results on time
* Self-motivated, delivery focused, works equally well independently and in teams
* Highly organised with a strong command of detail. Comfortable with balancing priorities and multitasking
* A passion for innovation and a desire to learn
