Commutable from: Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Kidderminster, Stafford.

Working within the ICT team the role comprises:

- Actively participating in the day-to-day management and administration of ICT facilities and the provision of related guidance and advice to users
- Taking a lead responsibility for the management of the ICT machine room, ensuring the optimum operation of facilities including ensuring the adequacy of the backup regime, recovery arrangements, and the administration of these.
- Developing skills and competencies in the specialist areas of Server Administration and Network Administration.

Specific Tasks

- Configuring, administering and managing end user resources. Providing support and advice to the users of these facilities

- Setting up, managing, and administering core servers providing (e.g.): file and print services, terminal services, and corporate e-mail and Internet access

- Security:

- Working within and in support of defined policies and procedures
- Technical Administration - including ''security and access control policies'', user profiles, permissions and passwords

- Service levels to users: effective handling of enquiries and requests for guidance or action on problems, including prioritisation, scheduling and continuous advice to all parties on intended action and expected completion times

- Co-ordinating efforts with those of other team members

- Ensuring work activities are organised in compliance with defined procedures so to: a) minimise risk of hardware/software failure, data corruption or loss and b) fully recover from situations that arise as quickly as possible

- Building and developing effective relations with users.

Experience with CISCO Networking & Windows Servers - a speciality in either is acceptable, but all round experience and knowledge of both is desirable.
