Senior Network Engineer

Marcus Donald People are currently recruiting for a Senior Network Engineer for an MSP based in Cockfosters, as a Senior Network Engineer you will design, implement, support, and manage complex data networks for the Group and its clients.

As a core member of the team, this role is responsible for delivering first class network support and development to ensure that the network is operational at all times. The post will include acting as the technical expert on full lifecycle projects from inception to implementation as well as design, development and support for all systems and upgrades. The post is a 3rd Level Technical Project and Support role requiring strong network skills.

A Senior Network Engineer is responsible for:
  • Creative design solutions for clients using the best mix of blended product suite ? All aspects of the operational network including diagnosing and troubleshooting complex technical issues
  • Maintaining the network to the highest standards identifying any potential points of failure and recommending solutions.
  • Occasional Pre-Sales Technical Support to ensure the design and implementation of solutions to a high standard
  • Acting as technical point of escalation within NOC
  • Investigating and proposing improvements to infrastructure
  • Proactive monitoring and management of vast data-sets running through company systems
  • Working closely with development and QA teams to scale capacity to meet growth requirements.
  • A Senior Network Engineer will also be expected to have knowledge and experience in the following areas, all of which will be required for this role:
  • Previous work experience with either an MSP or ISP
  • CCNP or JNCIS-SEC qualified, desire to work towards CCIE
  • Experience in designing, implementing, operating and troubleshooting complex international data networks in a service provider environment
  • Expert-level understanding of Layer 2 and 3 internetworking technologies
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP, netflow, access-control lists, policy-based routing, firewalls, peering, and DNS
  • Significant OSPF, ISIS and BGP design, implementation, and troubleshooting experience in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with MPLS in a provider environment
  • Experience with Linux and similar open source operating systems
  • Experience with Quality of Service in various data/voice network implementations
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco’s IOS & IOS-XR, Junipers JUNOS and other major network vendor platforms
