Lead BI Developer – Ipswich

Our client is a market leading energy retailer, specialising in B2B sales. Part of a FTSE 250 group, due to exponential growth, they are seeking a Lead BI Developer to build, maintain, audit and improve business systems in line with their Software Development Standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead BI Developer:

  • Mentoring and directing others in the development team
  • Introduce and drive new technologies forward, working closely with architecture function to improve the business technology roadmap
  • Design, development, implementation, maintenance and support of business systems
Provision of secure application development, maintenance and support service (includes investigation and resolution of issues).
  • Design and build secure integration components and secure interfaces
  • Set local or team-based standards for programming tools and techniques, including security guidelines, and the selection of appropriate development methods
  • The specification, design and maintenance of mechanisms for storage and access to both structured and unstructured information, in support of business information needs

  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience required from the BI Developer:

    • Track record of working with BAs, product managers, business customers and SMEs
    • Versed in secure software development standards and practices (ISO27001, OWASP etc…)
    Demonstrable experience in enterprise databases SQL Server/ Oracle / AuroraCloud Platform experience (ideally AWS)Solid understanding of the full development life-cycle including knowledge of Agile development practices (e.g. Continuous integration, TDD)Demonstrate experience in OO design principals applied to problem determination and resolutionKnowledge and development experience in cloud data storage – AWS S3, AWS Redshift, Azure StorageExperienced in Data WarehousingAbility to interrogate and manipulate large quantities of data.Exposure to ETL tooling SSIS, AWS Glue, MatillionKnowledge of BI Reporting and visualisation tools (Looker, SSRS, QuickSight, Qlik Sense)Understanding of Data Model and data lake principals

    The ideal candidate will also preferably have experience in AWS Serverless platform offerings and Infrastructure as code knowledge.
