A large Professional Services award winning organisation has an exciting opening for a Network Engineer to join their team based in Central Manchester.

Key Responsibilities
*Ensure the correct application of operational procedures;
*Ensure that documentation of the supported components is available and in an appropriate format for those providing support;
*Identify operational problems and is accountable for their resolution in accordance with agreed standards and procedures;
*Provide reports and proposals for improvement;
*Provide security consultancy/advice as needed to the IT department and to the business;
*Manage processes relating to the installation, maintenance and operation of security infrastructure including firewalls, proxies and IPS;
*Responsible for the implementation of agreed changes and maintenance routines;
*Regularly reviewing infrastructure to ensure best practices are being followed and where necessary to escalate problems/issues (process or compliance) as necessary;
*Enforcing role based access control.
*Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolves problems in systems and services;
*Responsible for the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures;
*Ensures that incidents and requests are handled according to agreed procedures;
*Investigate identified security breaches in accordance with established procedures and responsible for applying the appropriate remediation;
*Conducts forensic investigations for HR, legal, or incident response related activities.
*Monitors and reports on supplier performance, customer satisfaction, and market intelligence;
*Monitors performance of suppliers against KPIs;
*Develops opportunities for improvement;
*Identifies where change is needed.
*Leads network security related projects;
*Security incident investigation and remediation;
*In-depth understanding of cyber security issues;
*Understanding of ITIL change management processes.

Technical Skills
* Cisco Checkpoint, Call Manager
*Strong networking knowledge - TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS;
*Strong knowledge of vulnerability scanning and penetration testing techniques;
*A good knowledge and hands on experience of current Windows server operating environments, Active Directory and Group Policy;
*Exposure to and working knowledge of - Juniper Junos, Checkpoint Firewall, Blue Coat ProxySG, Palo Alto PAN-OS, QOS, MPLS, routing protocols, Layer 3 Switches, VLANS;
*Knowledge of network security devices and associated protocols;
*Exposure to SIEM technologies;
*Strong packet analysis skills;
*Strong understanding of secure network design principles;
*Good knowledge of secure web gateway (proxy) technologies
