PROCESS ENGINEER (12 Month contract)

Salary: Grade 7 £27,574 - £29,403 per annum
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week
Holiday entitlement: 26 days per annum in addition to Bank Holidays

Job Purpose:

The Menai Innovation, Coleg Menai in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers (Llanberis) are about to embark on a challenging and exciting 12-month project.

Main Tasks:

This project will focus primarily on a continued need for the business to investigate the implications of process variability within the moulding and assembly process. This partnership will work towards providing technical solutions for this process. The challenge will be to ensure that a compliant process is developed which meets the needs of the regulatory authorities and customer requirements. It will be technically challenging as the project will need to clearly identify the root cause of the variability within each process.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering the project with the full support of the project team and can be split into three specific phases:

Main Duties:

The Post Holder will:

  • Embedding and transferring new knowledge within the business on design principles and tolerance stacking analysis to validate and verify change will result in best practice and process changes.
  • Results of the above analysis will assist in establishing an improved specification of the moulded parts. The evaluation process will establish whether the parameters of the moulded parts specification are within the capability of the assembly process.
  • Determine moulding process outputs that can affect manufacturing effectiveness.

The post holder will primarily be based in the host company but employed by Grwp Llandrillo Menai. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with appropriate suppliers, specialist services and the project teams and Coleg Menai and Siemens Healthineers.

Selection Criteria:



  • HNC or above in an Engineering discipline or equivalent related subject.


  • Masters award in Engineering or equivalent related discipline.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience of manufacturing processes including Injection moulding.
  • Experience of process improvement or lean principles.


  • Process innovator with an understanding of how manufacture systems work including automation and plastic welding.
  • Experience in re-engineering processes in relation to the introduction of new production techniques and manufacturing process optimization.

Skills & Personal Attributes:


  • Excellent IT skills with an understanding of statistical techniques
  • Excellent organisation skills and a flexible approach to prioritise work to meet deadlines and deliver results
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders
  • Able to work in a team orientated collaborative environment with minimum supervision
  • Analytic and problem solving abilities with a keen attention to detail


  • Aptitude for engineering design and problem solving
  • The ability to communicate effectively in Welsh
  • Full UK driving licence
