C++ Software Engineer

£35,000 - £50,000 per annum + Bonus + Pension

Oxford - Oxfordshire

Our client is a software application for performing multi-physics simulations of a wide range of devices from electric drives for automotive applications to medical proton-therapy systems. The software is developed using agile development methods in an object-oriented software environment to produce truly leading-edge virtual prototyping software.

As a Software Developer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • Qualified to degree level in software engineering, or a relevant physics, engineering or maths discipline with strong software content.
  • You need to be competent at programing in object oriented languages like C++ (essential) and Python or C#/Java.
  • It is desirable, though not essential, that you have a working knowledge of libraries and frameworks like Boost and Qt and of cross-platform development for Windows and Linux.
  • You should take a keen interest in software engineering and be ready to apply your up-to-date knowledge to the group’s products.

In addition to the technical capabilities, the following competences and personal qualities are also important:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive & team player
  • Disciplined, well organised, good time management skills
  • Able to take on independent work within a given timeframe
  • A "doer" who will deliver; ambitious and self-motivated, with high levels of enthusiasm, drive and energy

As a Software Developer your main responsibilities will involve:
  • Develop and support an application used for multi-physics simulation, including UI/UX and software infrastructure.
  • Assist in planning and strategy, using agile methods, for the future evolution of the groups software products, including a new and exciting range of applications for engineering application led simulation.
  • Participate in the wider activities of the software development group and cooperate with other teams to advance the groups software products.
