My client is an exciting and fast growing IT Service provider who needs someone strong in writing regular expressions (regex) to add to their Messaging Security team as a Messaging Security Engineer to ensure consistent levels of spam and malware protection.
This would be an ideal role for someone wanting to enter the Cyber Security field as you will be trained on email security in particular.
The Messaging Security Team is a specialist team who utilize a network of honey pots that attract and aggregate both spam and malware in the wild. This, coupled with community provided intelligence, allow them to provide detection and protection mechanisms against spam and malware to mitigate the rapidly evolving techniques used by spammers.
Essential: strong experience writing regular expression (regex)
Useful: Lua (or similar), Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash, scripting, good understanding of SMTP, POP3, TCP/IP, DNS, IMAP and SSL/TLS, Working knowledge of messaging (email traffic management) and routing, Anti-Abuse/Anti-Spam Support, Maintenance of Real-time Block Lists, Real-time Allow Lists, URI Block Lists, Email traffic analysis and malicious activity detection, External RBL monitoring and immediate response to new outbreaks, threat research, malware, SIEM, LogRhythm, Experience working at an ESP/ISP or in a SOC environment, Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, Unix, shell scripting, PHP, MySQL, networking, CISSP (or similar security qualification)
