Our client is a high-growth & ambitious construction business. With impressive growth over recent years, they will turn over record figures this year once again and have a pipeline to continue this growth.

Having recently appointed a high-calibre CFO, the focus is on building an elite back-office to support the plans of the owners and ensure adequate resource is in place to facilitate ongoing growth.

We are looking for a confident, hands-on Financial Controller who can hit the ground running and play a key role in the business going forward. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious individual to be part of an exciting and highly successful organisation.

The Role

The purpose of this appointment, reporting to the CFO, will be the following:

  • Ensuring that the company has the means and resources to deliver the Board's business plan;

  • Production of the monthly board pack to include detailed management accounts and analysis;

  • Provision of commercial intelligence to aid the board in its decision-making;

  • Close control of company financial resources, constantly looking for areas of improvement to both the working capital cycle and the bottom line;

  • The running of the accounts department team;

  • Maintaining good relations with the external stakeholders including banks, auditors, key suppliers and customers.

The candidate's experience

You will have a good working knowledge and can demonstrate experience of the following:

  • A good understanding and demonstrable experience of the issues facing a construction business;

  • Preferably working knowledge of Sage 200;

  • Strong academic achievement, with evidence of continuing professional development;

  • Strong accounting skills and demonstrable evidence of improving & developing MI with a focus on building and implementing a control environment;

  • Proven track record of staff management, project management, performance management and service improvement;

  • Well-developed leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate and engage individuals at all levels;

  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment, whilst retaining a focus on clarity and stability to focus those around you.
