Senior Microsoft BI Developer / DBA - SQL/SSIS/SSAS Tabular

A FTSE250 financial company working on leading edge software products used by its global staff of over 1500 are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Microsoft BI Developer / DBA.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Use data from internal & external sources to provide the company with a competitive edge
  • Maintain existing reports and data models and Working to maximize the utility of data within the business
  • Hands-on Full lifecycle delivery of reports, dashboards and data feeds.
  • Understanding and documenting new and existing data requirements and translating these into high-level database designs and then implementing.
  • Pro-actively identifying opportunities for data quality improvements.
  • Managing the relationship with stakeholders and users of the data.
  • Working with the development team to contribute to project delivery, review T-SQL code and provide best practice guidance
  • DBA support tasks â?? Environment monitoring, backups, code deployments
  • Provide paid on call cover on a rota basis

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong T-SQL skills. Confident with advanced functions and complex datasets from transactional and batch sources
  • Experience with SSAS tabular/Powerpivot/powerBI
  • Comfortable using the DAX language
  • Experience with visualization layers (Excel/SSRS)
  • Understanding of data flows and lineage and able to implement these using SSIS/ETL tools
  • Ability to reverse engineer, trace back data
  • Strong analytical skills - Analyzing financial data, models etc.
  • Multitasking - Working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ad Hoc Reporting (Engaging with the business)
  • Able to independently test and validate reporting solution outputs
  • Communicating complex technical issues clearly
  • Good understanding of DW modelling terminology & techniques
  • Good numeracy skills

Desirable Skill & Experience:

  • Experience with data cleansing and/or master data management
  • Department lead experience
  • Client facing experience working with customers to understand, document and implement requirements

Salary:

  • £60-70k basic salary
  • Annual bonus scheme (up to 25%)
