Field Technician (Flushing) Nightshift

ESS Energy & Water's Client, a multi-disciplinary consultancy is a leading provider of professional and field-based support services to the water industry that employs around 850-staff within their UK Water business alone. With extensive experience and an enviable reputation within the water industry, they are one of the principal providers of clean and waste water support services. They work together with all UK water companies and The Environment Agency to deliver cost efficient results through the strategic planning and management of water services.

They work for all the UK water and sewerage companies and most of the water-only companies, providing a wide range of services including Water and Wastewater Network Modelling, Sewerage Management and Drainage Area Planning, Water Network Operational Management, Software Solutions, Surveying, Infrastructure Design, Leakage Consultancy, Water Resources and Efficiency, and Flood Risk Management.

Due to a major project win with Scottish Water they are seeking Field Technicians (Flushing) to join their Glasgow office. As a Field Technician within the Flushing Team you will be part of a two man team (usually working nights) assisting with completion of site based work.

Main responsibilities will include;
  • Assist with meeting the output targets for team whilst maintaining quality of work.
  • Assist with identifying problems, potential solutions and escalating any issues as required.
  • Identify continual improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with all allocated work (quality and accuracy of information feedback)
Programme Management
  • Provide information to allow daily updates to be completed.
  • Assist with dealing with any site issues raised.
  • Attend office and site-based meetings.
  • Quality & Adherence to H&S of Works.
  • Ensure DOMS compliance on site.
  • Interact with Customers in a professional manner at all times.
  • Use of Works Mobile (WM)/ Fulcrum and report issues as appropriate
  • Rectify/advise on site and technical issues
  • Promote good working practices
  • Monitor Flushing programme and report any onsite issues that affect progress to Field Technician (No 1).
  • Reporting of any site issues to Supervisor/ Project Manager.
Quality & Adherence to H&S of Works
  • Ensure QUENSH compliance on all aspects of site work
  • Assist on any relevant paperwork, (Vehicle Transfers/Damage, Site Incident reporting etc.) in accordance with RPS IMS procedures
  • Liaise with clients Water Operations when necessary
  • Manage good housekeeping of use of equipment

*Hold a valid EUSR DOMS (Distribution, Operations, Maintenance, Strategy) Card
*Geographical knowledge of Scotland
*Hold a valid NRSWA Operatives Card, including Unit 2 signing, lighting and guarding
*Level 4 Diploma in Water Industry Operations (equivalent to Higher National Certificate (HNC) /Higher National Diploma (HND))
*Hold a valid EUSR National Water Hygiene Card
*Health & Safety Supervisory qualification such as SHEA or IOSH Managing Safely or SSMTS
*Willingness to work day shift if required to meet the needs of the business and client.
*Plumbing experience
*Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
*Clean Driving Licence
*Be IT literate to include use of PDA
*Previous involvement in Water Network Operations
