There?s nowhere quite like Heathrow Airport. This is a city within a city, where thousands of people work together to make every journey better for millions of passengers every year. It takes great people and great teamwork to welcome 200,000 passengers every day ? and in this role, you?ll play an important part in making sure everyone has a great experience while they?re here.
You?ll do that by maintaining POD ? our pioneering system that transports passengers and their luggage to and from our Business Car Park to Terminal 5. This unique system consists of 21 low energy, battery powered, driverless vehicles capable of carrying four passengers and their luggage along a 3.8km dedicated guide way.
You?ll use your technical skills to ensure POD runs reliably and safely. In the main, this will mean carrying out a wide range of planned and preventive maintenance on the mechanical and electrical parts of both the vehicles and wayside equipment. As well as finding and fixing faults, you?ll be responsible for maintaining the visual appearance of the pods and ordering spare parts when needed. We?ll also look to you to train and coach others in the technical maintenance of the system.
To succeed in this role, you?ll need to have proven technical skills. You could have a City and Guilds or ONC/HNC qualification in an engineering discipline. Alternatively, you could have come through an accredited Technician apprenticeship scheme or have equivalent experience. What?s not in doubt is your real know-how when it comes to servicing electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment. Reliable and conscientious, you?ll be a self-starter with high standards and will be passionate about service quality.
If that?s you, this is your chance to be a part of one of the most dynamic places to work in the world. Heathrow is a special place: every day nearly 80,000 people of all ages and backgrounds come here to work, brought together by one common goal ? to make every journey better for over 75 million passengers a year.
