**Fantastic Opportunity** Software Team Leader based Manchester £39-50k. (Web/Mobile) Development.

We have a vacancy for a software team leader. The successful candidate will be a talented, self-motivated team manager with the ability to lead a team of software engineers who set for themselves the highest professional standards. Operational responsibilities and tasks
*To line manage the software team, setting objectives, prioritising work and monitoring progress.
*To take responsibility for the delivery of software for multiple mobile health projects using a Scrum methodology
*To ensure that the software developed within the team is of a high quality
*To manage relationships with partners and collaborators including representing the software team at project meetings
*To work closely with the other software team leaders to ensure consistency of approach across all projects within the research group.
*To work closely with the Information Systems Programme Manager, reporting progress on projects and escalating issues as needed
*To communicate developments, both internally and externally, via new media methods as well as through traditional avenues
*To contribute to the development of funding proposals for both research council and industry partners
*To mentor new members of the software team
*To keep up to date with knowledge of emerging technologies and new strategic directions that develop in this fast moving environment
*Produce deliverables to agreed deadlines and objectives.
*Maintain deployed software, including investigation of and fixing of defects
*Produce technical and user documentation.


Person specification

Essential:
1.Computer science degree or a scientific degree with a substantial amount of computation
2.Experience of software development using an object-oriented programming language (C#/C++/Java).
3.Experience of developing or leading the development of web-based and mobile applications
4.Experience of leading a software team or experience of a senior software engineering role taking responsibility for significant aspects of one or more projects
5.Experience of mentoring less experienced software engineers
6.Experience of all aspects of the software lifecycle including agreeing requirements with customers
7.Significant experience of working closely with customers or other partners on projects
8.Very strong communication skills; able to write clear and accurate documentation appropriate for its target audience; able to present and explain detailed technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
9.Self-motivated and tenacious; able to work both independently and in a team; able to adapt to changes in roles and tasks; able to manage time effectively, and deliver within a defined timeframe

Desirable:
1.Experience of the Scrum software development methodology including running stand-ups and planning and review meetings
2.Line management experience
3.Experience of one or more of the following: JavaScript, Android app development, iPhone app development, Cordova, JQuery Mobile, AngularJS, Spring Framework
