Graduate Academic Learning Mentor

Are you a high-achieving graduate looking to join an exciting secondary school as an Academic Mentor graduate scheme, supporting students to reach their academic potential, whereby the following year you have the option train to teach within the same school?

Perhaps you are considering teaching as a rewarding career in your chosen degree subject but would first like to gain experience in a support role?

This fantastic West Birmingham secondary school & sixth form is looking to recruit a number of academic learning mentors for a start as soon as possible. Graduates in the following subjects are desired including: Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, History and Modern Foreign Languages including French & Spanish.

Academic Learning Mentor:

  • Paid up to £300 per week
  • Core subjects required
  • Full time position Mon-Fri
  • Immediate/ASAP start
  • Potential for a place on the school's teacher training in 2018
  • Excellent insight in to teaching
  • Based in West Birmingham

As an Academic Learning Mentor you will gain an insight in to what it takes to become an excellent teacher. You will be supporting learners within intervention groups, as well as within the classroom setting, occasionally taking intervention lessons. You must be a high-achieving, confident and enthusiastic graduate who is ready to inspire young learners and help them to reach their potential. You must have a degree and be ready to take on the challenge of working within education, initially supporting young learners to reach their goals, with the aspiration in mind of one day becoming a qualified teacher in your chosen subject.

The school is an 11-18 secondary and sixth form school with exceptional leadership. The head teacher is looking to recruit a number of core subject graduates for academic learning mentor roles starting as soon as possible. The school are passionate about supporting learners through high-quality graduate level support staff with the view in mind of potentially training graduates in core subjects to become teachers within the next couple of years through the school's own teacher training route.
