Working within our Global Pharma Procurement, Scientific Sourcing (GPPS) function he/she will lead the sourcing and contracting process by managing outsourcing needs for Biomarker services and professionally negotiating for functions and teams.

Main Responsibilities

* Leading and conducting negotiations with vendors and measuring performance of chosen vendors with respect to quality of work, cost and timelines.
* Collaboration with key partners and internal teams to ensure successful delivery with continuous improvements and streamlining
* Appropriate business and financial risk evaluation and mitigation whilst meeting business needs
* Supporting Research early and late development clinical teams and functions for all their biomarker outsourcing needs, including, but not limited to: negotiating savings, creating contracts of all kinds and delivering training
* Evaluate research early and late development functional or project sourcing specific needs and their impact on the current sourcing strategies, and define how to address these needs
* Contribute to the implementation of the complete procurement strategy in the Early Development area


* Solid scientific education (Bachelor/Master or similar education in Biology, Chemistry) to facilitate outsourcing specification discussions with scientists; an additional business qualification will be a plus
* Sound understanding of Biomarker Services environment (platforms, timelines etc.)
* Sourcing experience, ideally within life science/ research organisations
* Ability to effectively negotiate business terms and financial costs
* Experience in managing complex sourcing projects in cross-functional teams, ideally in R&D sourcing categories, on a regional or global scale
* Ability to maintain problem-solving approach in collaboration with internal and external contacts
* Strong organisational and project management skills; able to organise and follow through with projects; ability to efficiently handle large volume of contracts
* Strong commitment to customer focus
* Strong interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to develop close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Team player with an open and flexible mind-set
* Ability to work internationally across multicultural departments
* Ability to negotiate business and financial terms is essential along with a high degree of customer focus for both internal and external customers
* Proven ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships
* Ability to influence key outsourcing decisions made by Research and Clinical teams
* Past experience as a clinical development team member-especially in early development would be of preference
