Senior Java Developer – Leeds

Senior Java Developers required in Leeds, Yorkshire, by a global leader.

As a Java Developer with my client, you will gain full exposure to the latest technologies (see below) whilst receiving an excellent salary and benefits.

You should have experience in, and want to gain experience in, the following:

• Commercial experience of software development using Java
• Strong Object Oriented skills
• Good database knowledge of SQL or NoSQL
• Exposure to continuous integration, build tools and scripting
• Use of source code version control using tools such as Git, Subversion or Mercurial
• Automated testing including unit, integration and end-to-end testing
• Development of highly concurrent systems (multithreaded and/or distributed)
• Experience of web / app containers such as Jetty, Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic
• Exposure to NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, Riak, Couchbase, Hadoop
• Map/Reduce
• Persistence frameworks/APIs, such as JPA, Hibernate or Spring Data
• HTML5 and JavaScript
• Automation technologies eg Chef, Puppet, Cobbler, Vagrant, Ansible, Docker
• Experience within the financial markets, commodities, energy or healthcare sectors
• Exposure to agile development methodologies (SCRUM, XP, DSDM, RUP, Kanban)
• Scripting experience such as BASH, Python, Ruby
• Exposure to automated integration testing - Selenium, Fitnesse, Cucumber
• Exposure to enterprise messaging technologies / ESBs (JMS, AMQP, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Tibco EMS, IBM WebSphere MQ)
• Exposure to virtualisation or cloud computing platforms - VMWare, VirtualBox, AWS, Azure, OpenStack
• Exposure to performance testing through tools like JMeter, Locust, Grinder, Gatling
• Experience using log management, monitoring, or search platforms - LogStash, Elasticsearch, Splunk
• Exposure to DevOps techniques and/or experience working as part of a DevOps team
• Web/network application frameworks such as Angular.js, Node.js, Flask, Tornado. Understanding of non-blocking I/O

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Delivery: the day-to-day responsibility for technical aspects of a project, both internally and at client sites
• Analysis and Design: understanding of both functional and non-functional requirements to produce well designed software, including the ability to communicate your design to others including clients
• Software Development: construction and testing of software components to a high standard within a team
• Quality Assurance: understanding of system test plans and system testing. Eliciting and documenting System Functional and Non-Functional Requirements
