We are looking for a Junior / Graduate iOS (Swift) developer for our client in central Harrogate. This position will be responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed towards iOS, including mobile phones and tablets. Your primary focus will be the development of such applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure, and support will be provided in aiding your ongoing professional development. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, an eye for sophisticated design, and creating quality software products is essential.
Please bear in mind that this role is a junior role, hence it is expected that a significant amount of support by the organisation, and effort by the successful candidate will be required in order to develop your skills to the required level.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and build applications for iOSEnsure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applicationsCollaborate with a team to define, design, and ship new featuresIdentify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugsHelp maintain code quality, organization and automatisationSkillsSome degree of proficiency in Swift, with a good knowledge of its ecosystemsAn understanding of object-oriented programmingSome exposure to performance limits and characteristicsBasic knowledge of memory management and multi-threadingExperience with embedded databases and other system datastoresFamiliarity with RESTful APIs to connect to back-end servicesGood sense of UI design and a user-oriented focusKnowledge of low-level C-based libraries is a plusKnowledge of Java development standards will be beneficialProficient understanding of code versioning tools (e.g. Git, Mercurial or SVN)Candidates should be degree educated, and have a good understanding of software development and general IT nomenclature and practices
