The Client- A Big 4 consulting firm

The role- The business is seeking a Senior Manager to work alongside the Head of Risk Management. You will be the primary SME for Quality Risk Management for engagement Partners and teams to consult with in Corporate Finance under each of the following.


• Independence (resolve challenges faced by practitioners in enabling them to appropriately pitch, win and deliver work)

• Contracting (answer queries and resolve complex challenges faced in contracting for new work. Particular focus is on large public sector contracts where there is often little scope to negotiate and on complex multi functional/service contracts
• Delivery, review of and consent to documents to be released to third parties/or exceptionally published by clients (

Role requires an awareness of market trends across the (mainly) infrastructure world including updates to regulation, changes in governmental direction and investor appetite alongside a critical eye for presentation and lucidity of arguments. Accountability for the consideration of the impact on the firm’s reputation in the marketplace and what impact such a report may have.


• Accountable for developing, implementing and undertaking Financial Conduct Authority (who are the unique regulator for Corporate Finance) required compliance tests to incorporate into the QPR or as a stand-alone compliance programme: Includes consideration on the regulatory challenge posed by the FCA and to monitor compliance with the FCA handbook. Challenging teams to consider this also in their daily delivery, for example process around consultation, appropriate management of expectations for less sophisticated clients and suitable tailoring of advice
• Reporting results of FCA compliance testing and identification of trends/themes or actions that may require remedial action, and accountable for implementing any action required and reporting results and actions to the firm’s FCA Compliance Officer

Monitoring, Reporting and Approvals
• Monthly Claims and Circumstances updates with Practice Protection: Understand the risks faced by the firm from legal challenge. Assist teams in their responses to these challenges.
• Accountable for the evaluation of new mandates:
• Accountable for the approvals of Medium Risk opportunities

Oversee junior grades in:
- Maintenance of weekly headcount monitoring: Includes a high level of relationship building in meeting all new hires
- Approval of CF Share Dealing Requests and responsible for identification of breaches including consideration as to whether this requires notification to FCA

Training, Guidance and Communications

• Deliver risk roadshows to all CF staff across all grades: Critical in promoting quality and risk standards and in setting the right tone
• Acting as SME by drafting messages for internal Deal advisory and CF communications from FRMP or Director;
• Providing insight and recommendations into firmwide systems that the firm is developing/implementing;
• Accountable for the identification of changes to policy and procedure. This includes the writing, developing and promulgating of such policy and guidance for teams/groups across CF and Deal advisory covering FCA/independence and Quality and Risk Management policies and procedures


• Act as lead reviewer for annual CF QPR process includes:
