TECHNICAL CONSULTANT / SENIOR DEVELOPER / TECHNICAL LEAD - LONDON / £80-£100K

Job Description

A Technical Lead is required to plan projects and lead teams selling and delivering projects, working on technical analysis, design, development and testing, supported by high quality documentation. During client engagement, the successful candidate will manage outcome-oriented projects to ensure successful delivery for both the client and the company. Project artefacts will be delivered by a small team of consultants and the Tech Lead will ensure appropriate allocation of tasks, identify risks and issues (either through personal experience or feedback from the team) and will actively manage progress, quality, dependencies and scope. On project they will provide a combination of direct contribution to technical work, oversight of small teams of technical specialists and project planning where required. Through formal reporting and other daily interactions, the Tech Lead will keep the client informed and provide transparency to the client. The Senior Developer will also carefully manage client expectations and represent the project status and output to the sponsor and other senior stakeholders. Within pre-sales, the role involves working with Client Relationship Managers to explore clients’ requirements and qualify them sufficiently to develop compelling proposals for the services we provide.

Skills& Qualities

The key skills and qualities required are:

Experience working with, and leading, development teams within the financial sectorStrong written and verbal communication skills, including authoring of business documents and presentations and chairing meetings Confident communicator with strong, proactive and diplomatic client expectation management and proven ability to manage stakeholder dynamicsTeam leadership, fostering an environment of open communication and mutual support but also individual responsibility and empowermentEffective prioritisation of tasks and communication under all conditionsExtensive experience of software development lifecycles and the build and deployment processes for popular languages Familiar with trade lifecycle and risk processesProficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint& diagramming software such as VisioCompetency in Java EE (Angular, Spring?)Exposure to Big Data, NoSQL or grid programmingCompetency in C#, C++, ES5+ JavaScript and frameworks or Python(Scala?)Experience

The candidate will have a track record of successfully managing complex projects within the wholesale financial services sector, including investment banking, insurance or asset management. They will be experienced in dealing with senior stakeholders and of delivering both positive and negative messages using appropriate styles and media

The candidate will have used tools such as quality plans and performance indicators to define and operate strategies for independently verifying that project outputs are fit for purpose and meet appropriate standards.

Projects undertaken will have delivered technical change, and advisory work or have provided an on-going service.

The candidate may have worked directly for clients within our target market but experience of delivering services to them as a supplier is likely to be an advantage.
