Head of Financial Reporting
Can you deliver justice?
At the Crown Prosecution Service we’re responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such our service employs almost 6,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the upmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.
Leading the Financial Reporting team (currently 8 staff), you’ll be responsible for the financial accounting function for the whole of the CPS, including working with our auditors on the year end accounts. The team also looks after CPS’s banking and cash management, invoicing, balance sheet controls and VAT returns. You will work closely with finance colleagues in our London, Wakefield and Nottingham offices, so occasional travel will be required.
A technically strong CCAB qualified accountant, you will be curious about understanding developments not just within the business, but also across government and the criminal justice landscape. Using your analytical skills, you’ll seek to understand the drivers of the business enabling you to identify and resolve accounting issues effectively, delivering timely and accurate reporting and supporting colleagues in your own team and across the business.
In return we offer our colleagues the opportunity to have a very real impact on society, the freedom to use their own judgement and the chance to experience both challenging and varied work. All in a supportive environment that is invested in seeing you make the most of your life inside work and out.
