Data Centre Infrastructure Facilities Engineer – Manchester

Data Center / HVAC / Power Distribution / Generators / Power Systems / Security Access / CCTV / Fire suppression systems / Building Management Systems / Project Lead / Electrical Engineer / Business Continuity / Health & Safety

Datacentre Infrastructure Facilities Engineer required for our Manchester based telecoms customer.


This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer able to work as part of a team and on a self-starter basis. This role will be supporting all aspects of the company’s facilities operational network primarily at Manchester but across multiple sites and will involve a degree of travel. A good solid operational background in datacenter facilities including power distribution, generators, HVAC etc.

Location: Manchester [and UK wide travel]

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday, there will also be a potential requirement to participate to provide out of hours support on a rota basis in the future

Key Responsibilities:

Must be a self-starter, proactive, highly organised, and capable of working well with individuals at all levels in the organisation. Will possess good interpersonal, written, oral, and analytical skills, as well as being innovative and dedicated. Provide in depth technical assistance across a range of vendor hardware & configurations in support of the company’s operational facilities networkProvide project lead and supplier support for new and existing facilities upgrade projectsProvide technical assistance as and when required in support of the company’s facilitiesLiaise with the technical contacts at third party data centres and manage the company’s presence on siteManage all facilities reporting; capacity management, business continuityCreation of accurate documentation to support Facilities network.Provide focus for Business Continuity rehearsals Manage H&S in relation to FacilitiesManage third party contractors when on siteProcure and manage third party support for HVAC, Power systems, security, Fire suppression etc. Provide lead technical guidance to management on FacilitiesKey Attributes:

Ability to work under pressure and in a fast moving and changeable environmentSelf-motivated and very flexible with a “can do” attitudeStrong technical skills within a multi-disciplined electrical and mechanical environment.Strong PC skills across Microsoft Office suite4+ years operational experience Qualifications/Skills Required:

Applicants will typically be degree/HND qualified with strong electrical and mechanical engineering experience. Electrical engineering preferred. Technologies & vendor experience that would be required/ desirable:
