Infrastructure Manager is sought by ever buoyant financial services organisation in the heart of the City. This is an initial 6 month contract, however realistically will extend for significantly longer than this. The purpose of the role is to ensure the Group's IT infrastructure is maintained, operated and supported to an appropriate standard. In this role you will be an escalation point for Infrastructure related matters and you will implement the operational infrastructure strategy.



Key Responsibilites:
  • People management of 16 technical resources, covering various technical disciplines (server, network etc.)
  • Provide technical guidance / leadership to the Infrastructure team
  • Run regular team meetings
  • Participate and lead the team during major incidents
  • Supporting 24x7 infrastructure services globally
  • Play the lead role in transition of new services into the Infrastructure team
  • Budget control & management of operational expenditure budget (£4m)
  • Providing escalation support to the IT Service Desk
  • Ensuring incidents logged to the Infrastructure team are managed, and updated as per internal SLA
  • Attending and representing Infrastructure during Change Approval Boards
  • Ensuring all changes to production services are subject to change control
  • Ensure monitoring systems and identifying performance issues proactively
  • Producing documentation to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Infrastructure team
  • Conducting root cause analysis following major incidents, as part of Problem Management process




Key Requirements:
  • Experienced in managing and delivering operational excellence
  • Previous experience and successful leadership of infrastructure teams
  • Strong people management skills
  • Experience of managing geographically diverse teams
  • Proven experience in the incident management process, problem management, root cause analysis, capacity planning and management
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server OS and server products & Microsoft Licensing.
  • IT Security protocols and processes
  • Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution
  • Network, infrastructure & systems performance monitoring
  • Experience in using cloud based services such as Microsoft Azure / O365
  • Strong vendor management skills, including outsourced providers
  • OPEX budget management
  • Be highly collaborative with the current team, management structure and team at large
  • Microsoft technology stack (MS Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Server)
  • Cloud technologies - Azure & O365
  • Virtualisation technologies - VMware & Hyper-V
  • Backup technologies, Netbackup, Backup Exec & Veeam
  • Security products, such as Sophos, Mimecast, Checkpoint
  • Cisco networking




Professional Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, industry standard certifications or experience
  • A technology certification - MCP, MCSE, VCP, CCNA etc.
  • ITIL foundation
