Java Developer, 6 months contract

My client has an opportunity for a Java Developer to join their team based near Gatwick in Surrey for an initial 6 months contract (extensions highly likely)

Responsibilities include: Migration of existing Java EE and Domino Applications to Cloud based frameworks and Cloud platforms (Spring, Spring Boot, Cloud Foundry); Enhancements to existing critical business applications - Quote and Issuance, Customer Portal, Case Management; Work on complex projects, leverage knowledge of application development methodologies, hardware characteristics, and other technologies to produce comprehensive solutions, within the agreed quality, service commitment levels, schedules and budgets; Bring a well-rounded and highly knowledgeable technical background in design and development to assist in the integration of new and existing platforms; Be a valued member of an agile team that is responsible for delivering quality solutions and supporting those solutions through an established change process through into production; Work with the right technology for the solution. You will be exposed to multiple other technologies, including but not limited to Spring, Spring Boot, JavaScript, SQL and no-SQL databases

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate solid experience working in a professional software development environment (ideally with back end service architectures). You will be an excellent programmer in Java with strong understanding end experience with Spring frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Services, Spring JDBC/Spring Data JPA). You will also have experience designing or working with REST APIs and implementing RESTful web services; Experience developing applications with SQL databases such as DB2, Maria, SQL Server.

Any experience with the following would be advantageous: developing applications with NoSQL databases such as Mongo; public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); modern web application frameworks (AngularJS, ReactJS, HTML5, CSS); Pivotal Cloud Foundry; Docker containers; exposure to modern software practices such as TDD, CI/CD.

A computer sciences or other related degree would be highly advantageous
