I would to have a chat about this opportunity with my client working with the latest technology in Cyber Security, Financial Crime and Defence. They specialise in delivering digital applications that are quick to build and easy to change and are currently using cutting edge emerging technologies.

Currently they are seeking a Hardware & Infrastructure (COTS/Incident Response/testing) Support Engineer to join them in Guildford to take part in the wide variety of projects they have in the pipeline. They are hiring at a variety of levels and will consider experienced JavaScript Engineers as well as junior engineers who are looking to develop with a FTSE100 company

Skills Required:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults and suggest appropriate solutions
  • Incident response, incident resolution and problem management of 2nd and 3rd line technical hardware, network and system technical support issues
  • Prioritisation and escalation of incidents and problems within a service desk environment
  • Configuration and fault diagnosis of COTS operating systems
  • Liaise with customers to inform them of progress on issues they have raised, request information, manage expectations and close out issues
  • Input to client reporting including quarterly service reports, critical incident reports and high priority incident update customer communications
  • Working with clients, external agencies and development teams to resolve root causes of problems and to ensure that problems are escalated and resolved within Service Level Agreements
  • Carries out regular activities required to keep the solutions running with minimal incidents
  • Uses system and environmental monitoring/management software and service desk tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports
  • Testing, documentation and performance of system and component upgrades and associated procedures
  • Carrying out release deployment upgrades by installing new software / hardware into existing solutions
  • Creating / updating documentation, including system user manuals, release notes, deployment plans and operational and support procedures
  • Contribution to knowledge base / FAQ to assist Customer Support in simplifying the support process
  • Maintaining detailed System records and documenting and recording client visit reports
  • Maintaining the teams’ test/reference systems and infrastructure
  • Working with Service Delivery Managers as part of a team to support clients
  • Working with Project Management to provide support to related projects
  • Provide 365x24x7 on-call support

  • Encourage and help to development other team members; report any dysfunctional behaviour
  • Report and distribute management information highlighting areas for improvement and those of concern and opportunity
  • Identifying and escalating shortcomings or efficiency issues in support process of functions
  • Recommend and implement operational process and platforms improvement
  • Where nominated–monthly reporting and budget management of the specific support projects
