Football Radar is a football analysis and intelligence company based in London. We are seeking highly skilled and experienced JavaScript engineers to work on products in the football and betting industries.

About the roleWe are looking for engineers who are heavily versed in modern JS development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of current best practices, tooling and frameworks, and be able to express clear, well-argued opinions about technical choices.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on our trading and analysis products. Technical challenges include:

Building realtime trading applications in the browser, handling large quantities of data over WebSocket, and working with modern techniques such as Web Workers and Service Workers.Providing tooling to our team of 120+ in-house analysts, focusing on usability, efficiency and user accuracy, as they watch fast-paced live and recorded games.Contributing to our club consultancy products, targeting the biggest clubs in the world, working on custom data visualisation that is elegant and effective.Required skillsReact/redux (at least 1 years’ commercial experience)Modern tooling (TypeScript and webpack preferred)Web Workers, Proxies, WebSockets (and other modern browser technologies)HTML/CSS (a strong understanding of the fundamentals)At least 3 years working as part of a product teamDesirable skillsFunctional programming and FRP (especially Ramda, RxJS)An appreciation for UX, usability and user-centred developmentExperience in charting/visualisation libraries (such as D3.js)Backend experience (Node.js, Scala, or PHP)Prior experience in the trading or gaming industriesEngineering at Football RadarWe have a polyglot and diverse engineering team. We tend to work in small teams, rotating around as projects evolve. We’re open to change, and we like to base our decisions on the available evidence. Anyone can bring ideas to the table, and the best idea wins. We like to experiment, because that’s how we learn. We try not to be precious about technology: we want to pick the best tool for the job, and we don’t want to reinvent the wheel.

The atmosphere in our team is also really important to us, and our software is a collaborative effort. We try to keep process and bureaucracy to a minimum, and we would rather be coding than in sitting in meetings. We each plan our own time, and work the hours that suit each of us best.

We don’t have a big, long-term corporate career plan or in house learning programme, but we do want our developers to be passionate and engaged. We’ll pay for any conferences, training courses or books you’re interested in. If there’s something you want to learn, we want to help.

Before applying please ensure that you will be available to work in the UK.
