Full time/fixed term opportunity for 18 months with the potential for longer depending on future project roadmap.
Glasgow Caledonian University is embarking on a transformational journey to become recognised as a “digital University”. This brings a focus of delivering digital solutions to underpin our ambitious 2020 Strategy to develop our digital education environment and expand the use of learning technologies to enhance the student experience, support high-level digital literacy, scale up our online and distance learning offerings, and increase the connectivity of our campuses and communities. The University is a distinctive, inclusive and forward-looking organisation which has evolved from its Glasgow base into an international centre of excellence in higher education with a graduate campus in London and the first foreign higher education institution to become a degree-granting body in New York.
With some large scale transformative projects now underway, there are a number of new exciting opportunities to join the team and work together to support the transformation to create a digitally-enabled University. The successful candidates will work at our modern campus, which has just undergone a £32 million redevelopment, in the heart of the vibrant and welcoming city of Glasgow.
We are looking to recruit 3 Analyst Developers to support our strategic project to replace the current student information management system (SIMS). Our approach is to work collaboratively with the Academic and Professional Services teams, to understand, document and improve our business processes and to apply lean process design to ensure that our systems and services best support our customer journeys – for staff, students and business partners. This is an exciting time to join the team as we look forward to implementing an extensive roadmap of projects bringing new technology and process reengineering to improve business efficiency.
To be successful you will have a passion for operational excellence and efficiency and really understand the impact that process improvement has on our customers’ experience and in supporting business change. You will understand that this is achieved by partnership working with colleagues in Schools and Professional Services and close liaison with project, change management and development teams.
We are looking for Developers to demonstrate a successful track record in development using structured methodologies for the migration and integration of systems. You will be able to document and communicate complex information concepts in non-technical terms to a range of users.
If you are someone who challenges existing processes and strives for improvement, is able to prioritise busy and competing workloads and negotiate with and influence colleagues, you will be well positioned for this interesting and influential role. At a time of significant digital change for our University you could be part of the team that really makes change happen.
As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality and diversity, as well as our values in everything that we do. As such, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values.
