My Client is a highly dynamic and successful consultancy providing leading best of breed IT hardware, software, networking and solutions. They are seeking a Senior Unified Communications Engineer who is seen as a technical expert within the UC space in enterprise scales organisations.

This is a highly technical and hands on role, with a primary focus on design and implementation of change the Unified Communication platforms; although will be expected to support the network operations team with complex troubleshooting of issues as required.

You will have experience of working in high impact, mission critical environments where service matters and exceeding expectations is the norm.


The Senior Unified Communications Engineer’s primary areas of responsibility include ensuring there are defined standards in place, manage the technical lifecycle of products and services and deliver change/transformation against created designs; always ensuring a smooth transition/handover to Operations.

Services you will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting include, but are not limited to: Enterprise Telephony, Contact Centre, Switchboard, Conferencing (Audio, Video, Web), Telepresence and Chat.

•Responsible for defining and documenting all Unified Communications Standards

•Responsible for the creation of Low Level Design documents to meet requirements outlined in the High Level Design

•Responsible for the creation of detailed Implementation Plans for all engineering related activity

•Responsible for Procurement activities relating to build and delivery of new services (Project)

•Responsible for ensuring the smooth Transition/Handover to Operations in line with agreed Operational Acceptance Process

•Responsible for managing Technical Lifecycle Management for all Telephony and Unified Communications services

•Responsible for supporting Architecture in creation and upkeep of a Delivery Roadmap for Telephony & Unified Communications

•Responsible for supporting the Architecture in scoping activities required to produce the High Level Design

•Responsible for supporting Architecture in undertaking Proof of Concept activities

•Responsible for ensuring skillsets are relevant and up to date in order to deliver change and provide a high level of support

•Responsible for providing escalation support to Operations with complex troubleshooting of Major Incidents as required

•Provide on call support (rota basis) and work extended hours as and when required

Core Skills & Experience

·You will have a minimum 10 years' hands on experience of communications within a global enterprise scale organisation designing and delivering solutions.

·You will have considerable first-hand experience of design engineering and building sustainable and scalable solutions, ideally within finance or banking.

·You will be expert at leading and resolving complex incidents and problems

·You will have an attention to detail in everything you do along with a natural willingness to help your customers and colleagues.

·You will be familiar with a variety of testing tools, networking technologies and techniques to accurately troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with the service, application and network hardware and software.

Technical Skills & Experience

You will have expert knowledge and experience of the following areas:

·Cisco Unified Communications Manager (10.5 +)

·Cisco Voice Gateways, gatekeepers, & IOS

·Cisco Jabber integration

·Cisco Unified Unity Connection

·Contact Center technologies (e.g. UCCX, UCCE)

·Experience with conference room technologies – AV / VC

·Voice recording, e.g. Redbox and/or NICE

·Experience with global numbering design

Technical Certification

You will have the following certification or demonstrable working experience:

·Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) or CCNP-Voice

·Cisco CCIE Collaboration

·ITILv3 foundation or higher

You will have the ability to work without supervision whilst having the ability to identify tasks and manage them effectively, work under pressure to tight deadlines. You will also have excellent problem management and customer service skills.
