Job Summary

To provide pro-active and/or reactive specialised technical support on a specific and nominated subset of BUPA's information systems infrastructure. Also to provide and implement technical solutions in support of business and IS projects and provide technical consultancy in their designated area of technical speciality.

Key Responsibilities

*Proactive and/or reactive support of infrastructure components in line with agreed service level agreements.
*To provide input to the Technical Services Manager in the overall development of technical plans.
*Act as a technical consultant where appropriate, providing advice and guidance relating to their area of technical speciality.
*Ensure that quality solutions are developed, tested, and delivered in line with current IS policies, standards and procedures, within timescales and to budget.
*Monitor the performance of the infrastructure and carry out tuning exercises as appropriate to ensure optimal performance.
*Identify single points of failure and weaknesses within the infrastructure and identify options for resolution.
*To provide input to the formation of the annual technology refresh programme.
*Conduct problem analysis and liaise with external suppliers to ensure appropriate fixes are applied to all identified problems.
*Ensure support documentation exists and is up to date for all infrastructure components.
*Constantly look for opportunities to improve the level of support offered for the same cost, including evaluation of third party software and tools to automate repetitive tasks.
*Understand your role in a disaster recovery scenario in accordance with the department's business continuity plans.
*Undertake demonstrations and presentations and prepare reports as required.

Essential Skills

*Able to demonstrate a high level of expertise and knowledge in their specific field or discipline. The range required in Service Operations includes a broad spectrum of hardware, operating and applications software, voice, data and mobile networking and communications, and security.
*Able to demonstrate considerable practical hands-on experience in a specific technical role, with exposure to a range of the key Technical skills required within a specific team within the Service Operations department.
*Excellent at problem solving - design as well as trouble shooting.
*Able to isolate and resolve performance problems in complex systems.
*Able to recommend ways to support a departmental policy of Continuous Improvement looking to avoid and reduce incidents and problems.
*Experience of working in an organisation using ITIL Service Management framework. ITIL qualification would be advantage

Detailed knowledge of as many of the following products as possible.

*Microsoft Active Directory and associated technologies.
*Microsoft Messaging/collaboration - Exchange, Lync, Blackberry Enterprise Services
*Email Content filtering (preferably Cisco Ironport, Clearswift Secure Email Gateways)
*Identity Management (Microsoft FIM/MIM/AADConnect, Microfocus Identity Manager)
*Microsoft Azure/O365 technologies
*Netapp storage solutions.
