Technical Skills

As one of the world’s largest, and most innovative, companies we deliver top-notch services using cutting-edge technology, so your skills count!

Candidates will have a real passion for IT! They will have a proven track record in successfully delivering a range of support functions to clients including sound experience in: systems monitoring; trouble shooting; and diagnostics. The role will involve liaising with both internal and external stakeholders to fully deliver operational systems and ensure 2nd / 3rd line technical support is provided as required.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Detailed knowledge of AIX
  • General understanding of storage platforms/ storage manager
  • Preferable experience with VMWare and Linux
  • Knowledge of a help desk system and managing service requests / incidents/ problems
  • Respond to users within set service level agreements (SLA’s) and operating level agreements (OLA’s)
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet agree build standards
  • Good organisational and communications skills
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Proactive approach and team player

Desired skills for the ideal candidates also include:

  • An understanding of ITIL framework
  • Knowledge of IBM storage and SAN configuration

We’re typically looking for people with a 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification in STEM discipline, however, if you don’t have a degree but have technical experience and a passion for IT, then of course we will still consider your application. In addition to relevant supporting qualifications, candidates will also have a good ‘all round’ knowledge of key infrastructure areas including virtualisation, cloud services, storage and networks.

Working in a consultancy environment, you will play an integral part of a variety of exciting projects across a range of sectors. Projects will vary in size, location, and length, some will be a completely new initiative for the client others will be part of an existing major programme. Each project that you work on has its own unique working environment enabling you to build up your network as well as your skills. Every project is different and our employees really value the variety of the roles.

As part of the CIC, you will have the opportunity to travel to client’s sites and other IBM and CIC centres across the UK, sometimes even further! Travel flexibility is important to us as our clients often like to work with you face to face. You will be expected to travel throughout your employment so we are looking for explorers, those people who are willing to go the extra mile for our clients (quite literally!) If you are not willing to travel to projects then we won’t be able to consider your application.
