JOB PURPOSE

To assist in meeting the Company's Mission Statement which is to provide quality residential services in community based residential settings, offering a homely environment for people with a learning disability. Advocating and caring for their needs and ensuring that they are receiving the most beneficial lifestyle that their abilities will allow.

Major Tasks & Job Activities

1.1 To work as part of a staff team that offers care and support to the service users of the care home - Working consistently and confidently when implementing care packages and offering support to the service users.

1.2 To ensure all reports and other paperwork are kept correctly during the span of duty.

1.3 To adopt the correct channels of communication within the staff team.

1.4 To work at all times within the boundaries of the Health & Social Care Act 2012.

1.5 To carry out at all times the Philosophy of Care within the organisation.

1.6 To be accountable to Senior Staff / Team Leader and Home Manager.

1.7 To be aware of and adopt company and house policies and keep abreast of any changes.

1.8 To participate in the dispensing and administration of service user's medication as required.

1.9 To ensure that all basic personal needs are fulfilled on a daily basis for all the service users - Assisting and supervising where necessary.

1.10 To fulfil all the needs of the service users - Physically, emotionally and spiritually.

1.11 To support and accompany the service users to any community based services, ensuring that they are safe and benefiting from the experience, whether it be a regular timetable session or an ad hoc activity.

1.12 To ensure that the home is kept clean, tidy and in a safe state. Being aware of and implementing the Health and Safety Acts which apply.

1.13 To assist in the planning and undertaking of activities that will benefit the service users.

1.14 To encourage and support the service users to play an active part in the running of their home - Within their capabilities.

1.15 To take on the role of key-worker to service users that have been identified - Taking an active role in the planning, assessment and review of service users' care plans.

1.16 Advocating on behalf of the service users to ensure that their "voice" is heard.

1.17 To openly report any concerns, queries of ideas for improving the service through the correct channels.

1.18 In relation to the performance of you duties, you will be required to participate in the appraisal scheme operated within the company.

1.19 To be available for staff meetings and actively participate as part of the staff team.

1.20 To keep management aware of your own development and training needs.

1.21 To be an active participant in assisting management to create a staff team that is built and maintained in a positive environment, promoting productive, effective and healthy team working.
