Our client is a full service medical communications agency located in the heart of London. Continued growth requires them to seek an experienced medical editor to join their team of over 80 talented people.

You will be responsible for proofreading and copy-editing a wide range of medical education and communication materials, in addition to coaching and training more junior members of the editorial team. In this role you will work directly with the editorial team to provide quality control (QC) and to share and support editorial best practice.

- Provide QC across all materials with support from team of QC champions
- Work with the senior editor to implement QC training and certification for all staff
- Understand good publication practice, regulatory codes and industry trends; ensure understanding by other team members
- Work with teams to support editorial aspects of publication planning, from PubMed / EMBASE searches, formatting manuscripts to journal specifications, abstract and manuscript submission, management of publication plan through Datavision and liaison with journal / congress editorial offices
- Work with the senior editor to develop new commercial editorial offerings and tools to support the team
- Conduct referencing tasks, including data checking, marking-up of references and use of Endnote and Zinc
- Assist new business development by doing research, collating information, creating competitor profiles, etc.
- Ensure high quality proposals and pitches from an editorial point of view
- Share skills, knowledge and expertise and train junior team members where appropriate
- Provide support to editorial budget development
- Participate on internal committees and in planning of company initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Life Science Degree
- Previous editing experience gained within a healthcare communications environment
- Strong editing skills
- Strong understanding of scientific/medical concepts and ability to provide editing across a wide range of different therapeutic areas
- Knowledge of good publication practice and the principles and practices of healthcare communications: current events, trends and issues, and their impact on the industry
- Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of challenging assignments
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and refined QC skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Strong demonstrable skills with Microsoft Office and preferably experience using Datavision, Zinc and Endnote
