Role: Business Development Manager

Therapy Area: Ophthalmology

Package: Negotiable basic salary up to 45,000, car, pension scheme, private health, sales force bonus and incentives

Territory: North London - covering the North East and North West of London

Role Type: Hospital Representative, Hospital Specialist, covering secondary care Ophthalmology customers

The client is a pharmaceutical company with an extensive product range within the Ophthalmology market. As a Business Development Manager you will have responsibility and accountability for the delivery of agreed sales objectives and resultant sales growth within a defined geographical territory. In order to achieve this you will deliver targeted sales promotion to specialised departments in hospitals and other health care institutions across a portfolio of ophthalmology products.

Ideal candidates will be experienced secondary care pharmaceutical representatives, with a proven track record and the ability to demonstrate sales success. This key role requires excellent business planning, key account management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Role responsibilities:

As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of pre-set objectives on sales, activity and other metrics as defined by the client.

This role involves representing the client as a sales and business development professional within a defined geographical area.

Acting as a point of contact on a local level for customers within healthcare economies and maximising service-orientated contact with these individuals to increase their usage of the clients' products.

This role involves the delivery of marketing and business objectives, maximising the return on resources employed, and operating within the defined practices, ethics, standards and processes of the company.

You will work with some direction and supervision by management, but are able to plan and implement your own activities with limited assistance.

You will be competent in the variety of activities within the role, and may have limited involvement in project work.

Through growing experience within different healthcare economies, the Business Development Manager is expected to have a consolidated understanding of the Ophthalmology portfolio to consistently and confidently work with customers

Completion of company CRM system to ensure accurate capture of customer information

Ability to work with other company divisions towards a common purpose.

To demonstrate an ability to overcome obstacles threatening to reduce sales growth on a territory

To consistently demonstrate the ability to understand customer needs and requirements at an individual and organisational level.

Qualifications

Educated to A-Level or higher in science subjects, and will ideally possess a life sciences degree.

ABPI qualified

Person/Experience Required

An experienced medical/hospital representative with approximately 3-4 years' experience with either pharmaceutical or medical devices.

Evidence of delivering a consistently high performance in this period both in terms of objectives and competencies.

Full driving licence

A positive approach with enthusiasm and tenacity, with a strong work ethic and motivated by challenging goals.

A team player who can also work with autonomy and use their own initiative.

Ability to understand customer needs and requirements at an individual and organisational level

IT literate with strong analytical skills

Able to influence NHS staff at the highest levels
