Financial Controller - Group Corporate Treasury

The Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) team is part of a wider Treasury Business Control team and is responsible for the production and oversight of the Statutory Financial Accounts. This includes both the Profit and Loss along with Balance Sheet and regulatory reporting. In addition the team supports the Funding & Liquidity GCT Front Office desks providing daily profit and loss reporting, reconciliation of ledgers, investigation and support on new transactions.
The team currently comprises six product controllers who prepare the Statutory Accounts for the F&L and Balance Sheet Management business along with a balance sheet manager. We are seeking one additional product controller.
You'll own the Statutory Accounts, including the P&L and Balance Sheet along with supporting the business. If you're a determined, resilient and flexible character, with strong analytical skills who can bring your skills and experience to the role this may be the perfect role for you. As a product controller, owning the Front Office relationship and issues for your desk, you'll prepare the daily p+l and supplementary reporting, performing variance analysis, producing commentary and communicating this to the GCT Front Office clearly. You will need to have a keen eye for detail, accuracy and be deadline orientated.
The role will involve a great deal of face-to-face interaction with the GCT Front Office, GCT and WBM Finance team, building these relationships, educating them with regards to the downstream systems and finding the best booking methodologies for new structures and manual migrations.
We seek an individual who has knowledge of banking book accounting as well as Products knowledge (understanding the products and their booking and accounting) of bonds, loans and deposits, interest rate and currency swaps along with other derivatives trading.
You'll possess an excellent understanding of the balance sheet (Debits and Credits) and the relationship with the Profit and loss accounts and good Excel skills (Access would be an advantage) to support and underpin the above in terms of reconciliation, investigation and explanation of movements in P&L and Balance sheet and to assist in developing in-house EUC.
