Automation Tester / Up to £45,000 / Greater London

Franklin Bates are delighted to be working in conjunction with one of the UK’s leading Multimedia content and service businesses within the current market.

Our client currently has a fantastic opportunity on offer where they are looking for a dynamic and skilled Automation Tester to join their growing and knowledgeable team. They are looking for someone with exceptional testing skills and experience around Java and agile software development. As well as this, a character who is flexible and incredibly forward thinking is a necessity for their fast paced and thriving work environment. As a forward thinker, you will be an enthusiastic individual who has good experience with coding and can demonstrate this in their day to day duties. You will have the knowledge and experience to pitch new ideas and contribute to the test strategy.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Programming skills - Java highly desirable although any languages considered (C#, JavaScript etc)
  • Automation experience is essential
  • Understanding of patterns, separation of concerns and general development best practice
  • An understanding of industry standard engineering tools and techniques (e.g. unit testing, version control, documentation standards)
  • Experience in API testing, knowledge of REST principles, HTTP, XML & JSON
  • Knowledge of modern agile software development and testing life cycles
  • Experience in user experience technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Ajax)
  • Experience with various testing frameworks/tools: Selenium Webdriver, Cucumber, RestAssured, Fluent-HC, JUnit, TestNG, etc
  • Experience of mocking frameworks
  • Unix/Windows shell and related command line tools
  • Atlassian tooling (Jira, Confluence, Jenkins)
  • Exposure to Amazon AWS or Windows Azure virtualised platforms
  • Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Requirements analysis and defining acceptance test criteria
  • Writing and maintaining test cases, scripts and plans
  • Continuous improvement of test strategies, tooling and practices
  • Collaboration with delivery teams on test automation and exposing surfaces to test
  • Defect tracking and management
  • Exploratory testing across multi-tiered systems
