Job Description: My client is a top UK bank currently searching for an Operational Risk Manager to develop, implement and embed the Operational Risk Management Framework that supports both internal and external requirements and provides operational risk expertise and consultancy.

The role holder will;

  • Oversee, direct and support the implementation and embedding of the Enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework across the business
  • Manage the development, execution and maintenance of the operational risk framework to enable identification and assessment of material operational risks across commercial and operational activities,
  • Responsible for the maintenance and analysis of the risk registers and the risk and control self-assessment process across the business, ensuring that monitoring procedures are in line with the Policy.
  • Implement and monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; analyse business and/or system changes to determine impact, identify and assess operational risk issues, and provide SME support on all Operational risk matters.
  • Develop and maintain a balanced (lead and lag) KPI/KRI Dashboard; develop and maintain reporting processes and data integrity review/reporting; develop, maintain and present KPI/KRI analysis; extract learnings and risks insights; drive performance insights and business process continuous improvement activity.

  • Develop and deliver relevant trainings to business 1st line of defence Risk and Control partners. Cross train to support depth of coverage within the Risk Function.

  • Coordinate internal/external audit interaction, manage the responses to audit observations to address control weaknesses identified; and execute the coordination role for the follow up, and closing out, of all audit items.
  • Assist in embedding a culture of operational risk management throughout the business by actively cultivating and maintaining stakeholder relationships, providing advice on operational risk management issues and demonstrating the benefits to be derived for the culture.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of working with Operational Risk Frameworks within financial services sector in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd line
  • The ability to influence and build appropriate relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels throughout the business
  • Ability to diagnose and articulate material weaknesses in key controls and to identify proportionate and pragmatic solutions
  • Proven stakeholder management and influencing skills, working at executive level;
  • Experience of facilitating regular review and oversight of the risk and control environment
