The in-house advocate Team are now seeking an experienced Advocate to join them in the London office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team.

Purpose of the role:

The advocate will conduct, inter alia, all interlocutory hearings, applications, costs and case management hearings, trials and tribunals for fee-earners firm wide across a variety of practice areas. The advocate will be instructed in both written and oral advocacy and will be expected to advise and report outcomes to those instructing them as and when necessary. The Advocacy Team is supported by a clerking team.

The advocate will be required to build strong relationships within the firm and will be expected to meet business development targets.

Main Duties:

Representing clients at court on instruction from fee-earners. Drafting legal documents and advice on instruction from fee-earners. Time management to ensure full preparation is undertaken for all matters. Managing expectations of fee-earners and advising appropriate steps where necessary. Business development to encourage instruction and growth of the Advocacy Team. Experience:

The successful candidate will preferably have previous advocacy experience in civil and general commercial litigation, although this is not essential as extensive training can be provided. Any successful candidate will be expected to have commercial awareness, confidence and the ability to seek out, secure and retain new instructions from within the firm and beyond. All candidates are expected to have achieved at least a 2.1 at undergraduate level and a very competent for the BVC/BPTC. If not already qualified, the candidate will be expected to engage with a route to qualification with the firm once probation has passed.
